A Turnkey Team Development Day

In the fast-paced world of global business, fostering deeper connections among multi-national teams can be a challenging task. Artistic Leadership, a team building service provider based in North Carolina, played a central role in helping a multi-national corporation, address this challenge through a team retreat. In this article, we'll explore Artistic Leadership's unique approach and how they empowered to build trust, empathy, and connections among their remote teams.

Artistic Leadership's Commitment to Team Building

Artistic Leadership is dedicated to creating transformative team building sessions through artistic experiences. When approached by a company with a diverse workforce spanning countries like Mexico, Russia, and Lebanon, Artistic Leadership saw an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

The Planning Process

The company had a clear vision of hosting their retreat at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina. The venue's event staff introduced them to Artistic Leadership's team building services, igniting the spark of collaboration.

During the initial planning phase the director of People & Culture USA for the company outlined two key goals for the retreat:

1. Build deep connections within their multi-state, multi-national team.

2. Ensure the creative ideas and experiences from the retreat seamlessly integrate into their daily work routines.

A Unique Team Building Experience Designed by Artistic Leadership

The director was particularly drawn to two creative modalities: kintsugi and songwriting. Artistic Leadership took these preferences and designed a two-part, ¾ day team building experience that combined both these elements.

The retreat day began with a few hours of internal team meetings, and then Tiffany Thompson, Artistic Leadership founder and chief teaching artist, took facilitated tailored sessions aligned with the company motto. Each section of the retreat emphasized different team commitments, including empathy, joy, and collaboration.

Here's a glimpse of the day's agenda, carefully crafted by Artistic Leadership:

  • 9:00 AM: Internal Company Team Meetings

  • 11:00 AM: Welcome and Introduction

  • 11:15 AM: Module One - Personal Reflection and Group Work

  • 12:45 PM: Story-Time Lunch

  • 1:45 PM: Module Two - Collaborating on the Song

  • 2:15 PM: Module Three - Teamwork through Kintsugi

Dedication is the Key

Through gray the sun will shine
Through the struggle you will climb
Sky’s the limit, reach for the heights
If you hit the floor, you’ll be fine
Through gray the sun will shine

Work hard.
Push on.
Believe in who we’re meant to be
Each day.
New dawn.
Dedication is the key

Let your goals inspire dreams
Forget your drama and join the team
Speak of hope in the toughest times
You’ll find happiness in all your life
Let your goals inspire dreams

Find your freedom once again
Your past, your future, is your friend
There’s no perfect path to take
Give your best and trust in fate

Client Feedback: Artistic Leadership's Impact

The director and her team had nothing but positive feedback for Artistic Leadership. They described the sessions as "truly lovely," highlighting how everyone left with constructive and productive outcomes that could be applied to their day-to-day work lives.
